Dr. Hughes is an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥) in Belton, TX. She is the primary instructor for the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Acute Care, Integumentary, Physical Agents, and Management of Special Populations content within the Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ DPT curriculum. Additionally, Dr. Hughes serves as a member on the Student Engagement and Retention and DPT Curriculum committees within the Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ DPT program and holds special interest in curriculum assessment and optimizing student success and retention.

Dr. Hughes received a Bachelor's degree in Science and Health Sciences from Texas Tech University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2010. In June 2023, Dr. Hughes earned a Graduate Certificate in Academic Medicine through the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hughes has been a practicing physical therapist since 2010 and has worked in a variety of settings ranging from the acute and critical care settings, outpatient post-surgical care, and skilled nursing facilities. Throughout her years as a practicing clinician, Dr. Hughes found passion caring for patients in the acute setting and specialized in wound management. Dr. Hughes became a Certified Wound Specialist through the American Board of Wound Management in June 2019. She is a member of the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) including the Acute, Cardiopulmonary, Electrophysiology and Wound Care, and Education Sections of the APTA.

Dr. Hughes and her husband live in Temple, Texas, and have two sons. The Hughes’ family worships at Vista Community Church in Temple, Texas, where Dr. Hughes serves in the children's ministry as a Sunday school teacher.
