Dr. Harris Ty Leonard received his Masters of Arts degree in Community Counseling and his doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from St. Mary鈥檚 University in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Leonard currenlty serves as the Director of the Clinical Mental Health Program.

One of his achievements during his time of service at 麻豆视频直播 was developing and opening the Community Counseling Clinic, which provides counseling services to the Bell County community where he served as Director from 2005-2013. Dr. Leonard served as the Coordinator of Clinical Mental Health Counseling for nine years before becoming director. He also started the graduate program鈥檚 first chapter of Chi Sigma Iota..

Research Interests

Some of Dr. Leonard鈥檚 recent areas of interests in research and professional presentations include: ethics in clinical training, providing access to mental health counseling services to underserved poulations, investigating the social health amongst faculty in counselor education programs and exploring methods for creating healthier work environments; integrating spiritual and religious beliefs in counseling and supervision; improving althetes' focus and performance; the use of Integral Breath Therapy in counseling and counselor education; and assessing and supporting graduate counseling students鈥� ego strength development in supervision.

Commitment as a Counselor Educator:

Dr. Leonard is deeply committed to his role as a counselor educator, and actively promotes the professional and personal development of students during their time in the Professional Counseling Program. He views the process of becoming a helping professional as a life-long endeavor that requires consistent attention to self-awareness and self-care, and he views having a servant's heart and serving one's community as an essential part of being a healthy and competent counselor. He actively seeks to instill this knowledge in the students he encounters. As a reflection of his commitment to his students, Dr. Leonard has recieved the following awards in 2017:
